Theatre Royal Pit Seating

Theatre Royal Pit Seating

This project had us reupholstering 119 pit seats, two usher seats and five dozen booster cushions. We also took care of many repairs to the bench frames (and removed a fair bit of chewing gum from the undersides). Along with the new fabric, we replaced all the seat pads with a foam combination of our own, designed to be firm, durable, and most of all, comfortable. All this had to be completed during a short break between productions. It’s been a while since we’ve had this much furniture in the workroom at one time!

Reupholstered Footstool Loveseat

This Leemaar footstool came to us in need of some work. It was reupholstered in KEP Houndstooth fabric from William Potts Ltd., as was the bespoke back cushion we added. The new metal legs from Clockwork Components and vintage handmade buttons complete the job transforming a rather well used old stool into this lovely bench.

Refurbished Writing Desk

Refurbished Desk Decoupage 5

This 1930’s writing desk was in need of some T.L.C. and that is just what it got. A base coat of ‘Nearly Black’ by Farrow & Ball with gold for the interior. The pen detail is a decoupage of sorts using graphics cut from Linwood’s ‘Penaholic’ wallpaper. Finally, a light coat of varnish and some new hardware to finish the job.

Upholstered Coffee Table

Upholstered Coffee Table 1

This is a lovely bespoke coffee table upholstered in Parasol Garden (Shelia Coombes) with a glass top. Fabric? On a coffee table? Absolutely! Especially when the results are this wonderful. This is just one of the many bespoke items to come out of our woorkroom.

Fiddian tip: Sometimes, the piece of furniture you would like, in the size you want, is just not available from the manufacturers. More often than not, it is possible to have the piece made for you. There’s nothing like having a one of a kind piece of furniture.

Tempus Stet Ribbon and Tassel 8 arm chandelier
This is a lovely 8 arm ‘Ribbon and Tassel’ chandelier from Tempus Stet we found for a client’s home. There is a 16 arm version and a matching 3 arm wall sconce available as well.

Fiddian tip: If you are unsure of the best height for your light, leaving the extra chain and cord attached will give you the opportunity to live with it for a while and make any adjustments, if necessary. Once the perfect height is decided, the chain and cord can be cut to the proper length.
